Patriot Games 2011

Patriot Games 2011
This is the second consecutive year that Denis and I have participated in the Patriot Games in Peace Valley Park, PA. It's a mini triathalon - a mile sprint, 1.5 mile canoe, 14 mile bike, and a 5K run - that you complete in teams of two. It honors Noell Maerz, a Lansdale friend of Denis' and a victim of 9/11. Noell was an avid lover of sports and had been training for the NYC Marathon that year when the towers fell. His father and brother decided to run it in his honor with very little training. The year after, they began the Patriot Games to remember Noell and to raise money for various charities, mostly children's charities. It's an amazing event to be a part of and keeps Denis and I in great shape. We hope to do it for years to come...

Long Beach Island 2011

In August we head to the beach. Long Beach Island, NJ to be exact. This year was no different, unless you count the category 2 hurricane we had to endure before getting there. She may have filled our basement with water and delayed our trip by a couple of days, but as you can see, she didn't dampen our good time and brought in some spectacular weather! Happy Labor Day everyone. What a great way to end the summer.

Turtleback Zoo

Turtleback Zoo
We took the kids to one of my favorite zoos of all time, Turtleback Zoo, in lovely West Orange, NJ. They enjoyed chasing peacocks, pony rides, and an amazing train ride through the forest. I highly recommend this place if you live in the central/north Jersey area! Perfect for young kids.

Keuka Lake 2011

Keuka Lake 2011

It's fast becoming one of our favorite summer traditions - July 4th week on Keuka Lake. In upstate NY's finger lakes region, Keuka is a gem. An extremely clean lake with lots to offer including countless wineries atop the rolling hills that spill down into the lake. We are joined by the Moe's, very good family friends of mine, and Denis' brother Sean and his family. Denis tries to get everyone we know to come up and see for themselves how amazing it is. I'd personally like to keep it a secret :)
